Asaalamu Aleikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu
The Status of women the world over does little to impress me , culture after culture women have been constantly stripped of their rights, to be equals , in some instances basic human rights have required strenuous effort and revolutionary action eg: basic right to vote -see suffragettes before becoming a reality. But women are the backbone and the strength of societies they are behind the scenes and they take center stage. They are mothers , sisters, wives and home-makers they are teachers, nurses , proffesors, doctors, pilots, engineers, soldiers, they are freedom fighters, they make up half the world and they are damn impressive.
As a woman ive always been interested in the development of women the world over , but last night i came across something special. As i sat on top of my bed watching Sex and the City2 I came across a beautiful and revolutionary song 'I am Woman' by Helen Reddy and it thoroughly impressed me despite the song being composed a long time ago in a society and culture very different to mine i could immediately relate and i felt it was a tribute to women everywhere. So take a listen and enjoy it as much as i did my sisters everywhere in the world, Peace and blessings with the women of the world,
Naz
We are women, hear us ROAR! ;-)
